Hardy Board

They've been working on the exterior.
Doesn't it look great?

The dark gray color is called Pewter.
The lighter is called Mullion Gray,
but it looks like it has a bit of brown in it
which is exactly what I wanted.
I was really nervous that the brick wouldn't go with the other exterior colors we chose, but I think it looks fab!
I love what I'm seeing thus far!

Kitchen Organization

As The Hubs builds things, we store it at my parents' house.
Here's a glimpse of the kitchen (and a few bathroom parts) at this point.

Appliances, sink, bathroom vanity, extra tile.  You name it, it's there.
Bless my parents for letting us do this!

I think I did a pretty good job tidying things up!
Can you believe that is our kitchen and master bathroom vanity?

Heat and Exhaustion

We're trying to finish trim work up and get things ready for painting.

I really wanted things to be different and have style, character, and "be ours."
I requested that The Hubs put some paneling up in the dining nook.

We've been sanding edges in preparation for paint.

He routes the edges of the casing to prevent it from getting chipped too easily if it was a perfect right angle.  I would go back through and round over all of the edges.

Each day we try to get here early before the heat really hits.
Unfortunately, there is too much to do and not enough time, so we work through it.
Can I just say, it's hot!

Here's a glimpse of the roof- it's shingled!
They are getting ready to install the hardy board on the exterior.

I had a dream- more like a vision- of me being hospitalized from exhaustion at this point.  I told The Hubs about it and all he said was, "No, you can't leave me yet.  We still have so much to do."
That pretty much sums up how it's going- NO REST FOR THE WEARY!

Railing is Taking Form

The Hubs and Bro-In-Law have been working on the stairway.

The End Caps have been installed (The Hubs designed and built them himself- isn't he amazing?)

Not only was my Bro-In-Law such a huge help to us while doing this railing, he was also on SUICIDE WATCH for The Hubs!  Let's just say that he will NEVER do a railing again!

Team Precision

We've been plugging along on the trim work and stairway.

Our family has been renamed:  Team Precision

Thank heaven they are here to help us or there is NO WAY we'd be able to make this happen.

Stucco Prep

Don't worry, this isn't the color we chose. It's just the prep.

Mud, Doors, and Trim

They finished mudding and taping. Next up: TRIM WORK.

We hung all of the interior doors and we're starting to case the windows and doors.
The tricky part is, we can't put trim (base/case) in the areas where there will be tile and/or hardwood.  We will have to come in after those are installed and slip them into place.

Aren't those the cutest doors you ever did see?

We decided to do headers above all of the windows and doors.
I think it's beautiful.
The Hubs is so talented with this kind of stuff!
