Delirious

We are all very unstable at this point.

I'm not kidding.

The Hubs was delirious and not making sense tonight.

And we are all on the verge of collapsing.

It could possibly be related to the lacquer fumes, although I'm pretty positive that pure exhaustion is the culprit.

We brought all of the appliances over so they can install them.  That means we are on crunch time (again) to wrap up any additional things that need to be done, fixed, etc. before they are put in.  

 Wait- what is this?  Taping off the railing again?  You've got to be kidding.  How many times have we done this?

 I never want to see another roll of blue tape again.

I'm sure my Bro-In-Law and Dad agree!

 Being the perfectionist husband that he is, he wanted to re-spray the crown after it was installed so that all of the edges and nail/pin holes are covered.

 This is how we roll... doing things and then re-doing things... over and over again.

I will probably still love this railing in the future, but it's very hard to even like it right now!

All of these pictures are taken at 11:04 PM.  And we still have A LOT to do tonight.

Installing Cabinetry

Here are a few "in-progress" pictures of the kitchen cabinetry installation.  The Hubs made some columns on each side of the fridge that will slide out and I can store canned goods in them.  Pretty sweet, right?

We opted for puck lights in the upper-upper cabinets (they will have seeded glass in them).  Ignore the stick that is holding the light up (freshly siliconed).  You do what you gotta do sometimes!

We have quite a few "To-Do Lists" going around.  We write on whatever we can find as soon as we think of or realize something else we need to do.  We are also getting ready for the granite to be installed.  

I stained that piece of wood that the balusters attached into.  Let me just say that this railing has been a nightmare.  Don't get me wrong- I still love it.  It's just been a pain in my behind (and everyone else's who have helped me).  After taping, staining, sanding, re-taping, re-spraying, re-sanding, and finally re-spraying FIVE FREAKIN' TIMES...  I think it's finished.

Progress

The past 2 days have been a whirlwind.

I wasn't sure what to even title this post.

The floor is finished.  The cabinets have started to be installed.  The railing is white.  The island is in place.

PROGRESS.

We are tired.

This island is my Dad's BABY!  He sprayed it- start to finish.

It looks beautiful!

I chose (with my sister's help!) Lead from Kwal.  I thought it would be a little more charcoal looking, but it appears blue with the natural light.  I actually like it.  

Thank you Dad for doing such a great job on this!

And thank you for working so hard to help us!

And a HUGE shout out to The Hubs for designing such a beautiful island.  He kept the shaker style going on the island.  He also knows me too well and built it so that it can come apart in 3 big pieces, so when I am ready to change the color, it won't be too much of a hassle to re-spray it!

He's a thinker- that's for sure! 

 I almost feel like crying right now as I write this post.

This railing is my BABY and I feel so happy, exhausted, and proud all at the same time.

The Hubs did an amazing job making my vision a reality.  Everyone (and probably The Hubs too) thought I was crazy when I said I wanted an ALL WOOD, WHITE RAILING.

But isn't it beautiful?   

I will re-tape each baluster and prepare to stain that piece of wood that lines the floor.   I had to custom match the stain at Sherwin Williams to match the flooring.

Floor Delay and White Railing

Oh geez.  We've run into a problem.

The floor was supposed to be COMPLETELY INSTALLED by today.  Don't worry, it's just barely getting started.  At first, we thought they would just extend our time to install seems how it was their scheduling mistake for the floors... NOPE.  I'm sick about it.  That means we basically have 2 days to install EVERYTHING.

While we waited for the floors to be installed far enough that we could start putting the base cabinets in, The Hubs decided to hurry and spray the railing.  We masked everything off and he got started.

We'll add the tops on the newel posts and it's ready to be sprayed.

Balusters

I think I sanded for like 3 days- STRAIGHT.  The Hubs told me I needed to sand 52 balusters.  He cut them all out and it was my job to sand.  I didn't think it would be too bad...  little did I know that each baluster needed to be sanded FOUR separate times.  80 grit, 120 grit, 180 grit, and finally 220 grit.  There are 4 sides to each baluster.  Do you realize how much sanding that is?

I believe this is the time that my family took over parenting our children.  No joke.  It was nonstop work from here on out.  We felt so guilty, but so grateful for them taking care of the boys.
